When Ann, a new mom, finds herself emotionally stressed out from the challenges that her life now presents. In an effort to save her sanity she reaches out to one of her friends and sorority sister Kate. Kate leads a mommy and me meet up group that assists all levels of moms with the anxieties that they experience. This can come in the form of Joni who is a proud mother of 10 but finds it difficult to keep count of all of them, literally and stresses that she has to deal with minute by minute of keeping up with them. Or Danielle, the mom who gets her stress release by making sure that working workout a part of her daily life all day every day. Natalie who is very much the Zen mom who believes that everything can be fixed with the right amount of breath, orange energy and yoga. And finally, let's talk about Kate, on the outside she seems like she has it all together and that is exactly why Ann went to her but the truth is that like any great mom she has her own issues that she is trying to avoid but she realizes she must address them head on. This is a high comedy and high energy story about a group of women who come together and realize that sometimes what a mom needs is a place to come and yell and scream, run and play, pull their hair out and put it back. But the one thing that these women have in common is that all of them aspire to continue being wonderful mothers, and they believe in supporting each other in any way possible to make sure that each one of them is successful at doing exactly that.
Mommy's Meet UpClub
(Ann, a first-time mom holds her baby in a front body carrier. She bounces the baby as she stands outside of a building reading her phone.)
Ann: (Reading) It is the building that looks like a cupcake. LOL. A little obnoxious but you can’t miss it. I hope you can come and meet the crew, Kate. (To herself) Welp, here we go. Mommy and Me 101. God, I hope these women have it together because I need some help. (The baby starts crying) Oh God, did she hear me? (Ann looks up and mouths “sorry” then enters the building after she grabs handfuls of baby stuff and mumbles to herself. She finally enters exhausted.) Finally.
Kate: Ann? (They look at each other) Anny Webber look at you. (They hug) And this little bundle of joy.
Ann: Is that what they’re calling nine-month-olds? “Bundles of joy?” (Tired) I call her-
Kate: Now you hold that negative thought right in that mouth. As a matter a fact, you swallow that negative thought. (Kate taps Ann on the lips) Go on now, swallow that. (Whispers, pointing at the baby) She knows what you were thinking.
Ann: I bet she doesn’t.
Kate: She does.
Ann: Nope. She would have run away by now. (Kate covers her mouth in amazement)
Kate: Well, aren’t you just a ball of joy.
Ann: Sorry, I’ve been lacking adult interaction.
Kate: Well, we’re going to fix that today.
Ann: Great.
Kate: (Going up for a high five) Hit me up high. (Ann looks at her for a minute not responding.) I promise Ann, these ladies are gonna make this part of your life a little easier. Just give it a chance. Hit me! (Hand up again. Ann laughs and gives her a high five, then Kate switches hands and they connect again, and both laugh.) See, already starting. Sign in over there. (Exits)
Ann: (yelling off) Rachel, that’s her name. (Aside) This is already turning out great. But hey, I made it out of the car so we’re staying at least through the apple juice and graham cracker break. (Natalie stands at the sign in…just standing with her eyes closed)
